Which spaces can you actually offer?
A vacant-looking space on a photograph is not necessarily a usable berth. It may be too shallow, reserved for a different vessel, or needed for access. Berth Manager keeps the drawing and the inventory together so you can review both before offering a space to guests.
Use berth management software to maintain the details behind every allocation. Operators who use the term slip management can work with the same inventory: one named space, its vessel limits and its position in the marina.

Name the inventory
Add individual berths with unique codes and group them by zone. Keep docks and amenities distinct from spaces that guests can book.

Check the limits
Record maximum vessel length, beam and draft, then set the nightly rate and amenities. These are owner-confirmed capacities, not measurements certified from a satellite image.

Review before release
Approve usable berths and mark spaces occupied or under maintenance. AI suggestions stay subject to review before they become booking inventory.
Worked example / a berth beside the north pontoon
A place on the drawing. A decision in the office.
An aerial image shows a boat alongside a finger pontoon. That gives you a useful starting position, but it does not tell you the safe draft, the permitted vessel size or whether the space is offered to visitors. Build the record in that order.

Keep one identity for the place as the presentation changes. Satellite, schematic and 3D are different ways to inspect the saved berth record.

Store maximum length overall, maximum beam and safe water draft on each berth record. Online search and checkout compare all three dimensions against the visiting vessel.
Physical status vs. reservation availability
Mark individual spaces available, occupied or under maintenance without losing their map placement, configured rates or historical booking records.
Revision-safe layout and active-booking protection
Saved inventory edits carry a layout revision to prevent concurrent overwrites, and berths with live reservations are protected against accidental removal.

Define capacities and approve bookable spaces
Review candidate spaces in Studio, confirm maximum LOA, beam and draft, set base nightly rates and decide which berths are released for online reservations.
Check physical status and hold maintenance berths
Inspect which berths are occupied or under repair, verify shore power and water availability, and match arriving vessels to suitable spaces on the harbour map.
Compare vessel dimensions before booking
Filter published marinas by boat length and stay dates, inspect the berth position on the map and verify that length, beam and draft fit before checkout.
The details that make an allocation useful
Vessel fit
Length alone does not establish a safe fit. Keep beam and draft limits alongside it so booking checks can consider all three dimensions.
Map consistency
Move, rotate, resize and align berth icons in Studio. Selected icons can share a common size while the commercial capacity remains an explicit field.
Inventory changes
The saved layout carries a revision. Conflicting edits require a reload, and berths with live bookings cannot simply be removed from the inventory.
The map supports allocation and record keeping. Confirm depths, access, navigation restrictions and safe vessel limits with the marina before publication.

Before you start
A few practical questions.
Can I manage slips as well as berths?
Yes. A slip can be recorded as an individual berth with its own code, geometry, vessel limits, status and rate. The terminology does not change the inventory workflow.
Does a scanned free space become available automatically?
No. Detection produces candidate objects. Review the location, geometry and real operating use, then approve the berth before offering it for booking.
Can I update dimensions or nightly rates across multiple berths at once?
Yes. In Studio and the berth inventory workspace, you can select a group of berths along a pontoon or zone to normalize icon dimensions, align rows or update shared capacity and rate fields together.
What happens if a berth needs temporary maintenance while published?
You can change the berth status to maintenance or occupied at any time. Its position on the map and past booking history remain intact while new guest reservations are prevented for that space.
